In November 2016, La Confection Idéale invited Iranian artist Armin Zoghi to present an installation which explored the diversity in the perception and interpretation of images as experienced by each individual.
Armin Zoghi is now exhibiting his latest work at l’Espace Croisé (14 place Faidherbe, Roubaix). Developed at La Malterie in Lille, the project, entitled Single Pulse of Subjectivity, shows an Afghan migrant roaming the streets of Teheran pushing a trolley on which images of the surrounding landscape are projected. The images are those of the landscapes through which the man walks, yet they are slightly skewered in time and perspective.
What influences the formation of our memory? The artist bases his installation on the confusion between the flow of our conscisousness and the changes in our emotional and intellectual environment.
“ When I quit Teheran 11 years ago, I fixed the images of the city in which I was born exactly as I knew it. Every time I revisit the city, I experience a confrontation between my memory and my present perception of the city. This disparity perturbs my perception and deforms my memory each time I visit the city.” (Armin Zoghi)
